Have you considered embarking on a musical journey of some sort, but this would best take place outside the context of traditional music lessons? Perhaps you are already actively taking lessons, but you need to polish your skills for a competition/audition or are looking for another point of view; or maybe you are a college music student looking to apply to graduate school and need to prepare for your entrance exams for graduate school. Whatever your situation, your age, or your instrument, I am here to come alongside you on your journey. Maybe you are an adult who has always wanted to gain a deeper appreciation of music (at an instrument, or just by listening and studying). Dr. Leonardo Zuno Fernández recently completed his Ph.D. in music theory with a related field in musicology at the University of North Texas, where he recently taught as a Teaching Fellow for four years. He has been the Head of Piano Studies at Booker T. Washington HSPVA in Dallas, TX since 2020. Dr. Zuno teaches applied piano, music theory, chamber music, and music appreciation. He studied piano under Dr. Richard Baca and Prof. Alfred Mouledous. Having obtained two master's degrees at SMU (in piano performance and pedagogy and in music theory), Dr. Zuno taught courses as adjunct lecturer at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts in the areas of music theory, aural skills, and class piano to both graduate and undergraduate students. In addition, he has taught piano for over 20 years, and also has experience teaching at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. He has been a board member for Dallas Music Teachers Association from 2006-2018 and has also volunteered with Texas Music Teachers Association's theory advisory committee. For him, few things bring greater joy than seeing students succeed.
